Make-Up Session !

Hey Fashionistas...I know its been really really long that I updated you with some fashion tips but can't throw excuses now... so here we go.

I am making it upto you all so its "MAKE- UP" time now...:)

I have had a lot of friends asking me about eye makeup and its very obvious why...I do wear a lot of eye makeup!
So here are some tips or a must have list for eye makeup...

  • Always use a primer with an eye shadow, it enhances the color and hides all fine lines or imperfections around your eyes. The one I use is from Urban Decay - primer potion.
  • Use a light tinted color on your eyes all through as a base color before using a brighter one. The base color can be something that matches your skin tone or a pastel. I have a palette by Bobbi Brown that serves the purpose.

  • Use an applicator brush to apply the color, I use #213 from Mac. These brushes are expensive but not use and throw, if you take proper care of them they can last for as long as five years or even more, so always invest in them.
  • Now to add a pop of color matching your outfit use any bright color and apply on the outer corner of your eye and blend it with the blending brush. I use #217 from Mac and it looks like-
  • The most exciting part comes now, I was generally looking for a good quality bright shade palette when I came across coastal scents and guess how many shades it comes in ....120! yes it comes in an amazing array of colors to chose from and the best bang for your buck. I bought it at ebay for $35, you can also find it on Amazon. If 120 are a little too many for you the same comes in a 88 color palette. The colors are amazingly vibrant and highly pigmented. The best part is that it comes in both matte and shimmer finishes. You can find tons of reviews online.

  • Next step would be applying an eye-liner. I use Mac kohl pencil both on top and bottom eyelids or sometimes use the one from Laura Mercier and the liner brush from Sonia Kashak. Always stretch out your eyelids from the outer corner before applying liner and draw a firm straight line across your eyes. The line should extend from one corner all the way to the other or else your eye will look smaller. Remember...the bigger the line the bigger the eye will look..:) I would not recommend a kohl pencil to people who have problems with smudging liners as you will land up looking like a raccoon!

  • I always finish my liner with a black matte eye shadow that give my eyes a very soft look. Use Carbon from Mac with applicator brush #219.
  • Finish your look with a ravishing super black mascara both on top and bottom lids. I use the one from Dior called Dioshow- blackout.
Note: you can always use a color different from black for liners or mascara change or soften your look.
Don't forget to try a look before you go out as eye makeup is always about trying and testing new looks...blend two colors or stay with one, do black and brown or go for a peacock color inspired look, always try them first before the day of the party. And lastly...don't forget to do what you do best...Look Fashionable and not fashionably late!

Tune into Tunics...

Hey Fashionistas...weekend is here and I bet you would be juggling through your wardrobe for all the casual , glam and fabulous looks to wear each day!
Today's post is based on Tunics...again, something quite 'IN' these days. I love it because if you have a body to pull it off without leggings, you can wear it as a mini dress with either booties, pumps or knee high boots.
On the flip side you can be more comfortable carrying it and can pair it with a bottom. That bottom can either be a capri, skinny jeans, leather leggings, sequins leggings or just plain leggings in a contrasting color. You can also just go with black leggings or a playful black/white as shown above. If you don't want your look to be very conservative top to bottom, try out a shear pair of pantyhose.
As for accessories, be minimal. Just go with either a slinky chain with a little diamond pendant or a pendant with your initials on it. Pair it up with a trendy oversized gold or silver chain watch or a nice cuff. Carry a mid sized bag that could be converted into a clutch if needed.
For footwear- there are endless options...boots, booties, pumps, sandals...pretty much anything that can glam the look!
And again...do what you do best...Look fashionable!!!

Hi Fashionistas... who doesn't like to let loose at times...just be casual for a change.. just pull on a pair of jeans and shirt and be done with it, but still look preppy...so this post is dedicated to that free but chic look!
The focus will be on the most popular and trendy Boyfriend Jeans!

Now boyfriend jeans has a baggy look but it still tightens and rolls up at the bottom so you can say it acts like a baggy capri. I would say its perfect for people who have heavier thighs, which I feel I do :(
Anyhow, moving on... we can pair it up with a nice cotton shirt for a casual look, off-shoulder top for a glam look or silk tube top for a preppy look!

The reason I have so many foot wear in the set is because it being rolled up you can flaunt all those gorgeous high heels or strappy sandals you have in your collection. Glam it up with jewels and remember to follow the thumb rules from my previous posts. Add some chic pink pearls to the off shoulder, a heavy chain necklace to the tube top or just go simple with either statement earrings, ring or a cuff to work the trick.
You can carry a big shoulder bag with this look or just hide the straps of your shoulder bag and use it as an over-sized clutch as shown in the set above.
And again...remember to do what you do best...look fashionable! Ciao...

Hey all, hope you are staying focused on what you do best...staying fashionable!

This post, as you can see, elaborates on my point of introducing belts in your look. Whether its formal or casual, belts can change any look and you can transform your dress into a new garment every time you wear it!
I don't have much to say here as the images say it all but there is one rule to follow...

  • Always get a size that fits your waist or look. If you want something to go higher on the jacket or top, get a size true to your waist otherwise get a size bigger for a loose dangling look. You might not stay comfortable or pull on the look for a longer time if your waist belt is too loose or too tight.
Wear it on a tube dress or on a jacket over the tube dress, good belts top the list of accessories you should always invest in!
Ciao fashionistas :)

Jump in Jump-Suits!

Hey Fashionistas- hope my last post inspired you all and you got decked up on your date nights!!!
Well...this one is inspired by the latest fashion trend- Jumpsuits!

I bet some of you have seen the Kardashians rocking it up...yeah Kim loves it and why not she has an amazing body to carry that but hey that doesn't mean we all can't 'Keep up with the Kardashians' right?
So, above are two conservative looks- the reason I said that is because it is as covered as it can get...but to jazz it up we add statement jewelery and high heels!

Time for some thumb rules to rock this look-
  •  Jazz it up but 'less is more', what I mean is as the garment is already heavy, accessorize it minimalistically. Add statement rings or bracelets to your collection with a little pendent or delicate gold/silver chain. Adding a heavy necklace or long earrings will crash it.
  •  Never carry a hobo(huge bag) to go out in the evening as that will make the look even heavier. If you absolutely have to, always keep a big enough wallet inside that can be used as a clutch in times like this.
  • Again, if you want to anchor it on the waist and don't want to feel like you are wearing a baby-suit, add a broad or a delicate metal studded belt to go with the look.
  • Some high heeled booties always work for me but for some who can't deal with heels try going flat with metallic sandals or flat booties.
  • All accessory sets in the collection above have been marked- bottom right 1 thru 5 is brown with a hint or metal :: bottom left 1 thru 4 is all metallic with a hint of red :: top center 1 thru 3 is making a statement with bold colors :: center (*) is something that can be paired up or replaced with either.

Last but most important...feel beautiful and confident, ugly is no word in our dictionary its just wardrobe malfunction :)
PS. Everything in the collection above is anywhere from $7-$700! Email me at fashionscious@gmail.com if you want to know what is what and where!!!

Royal Risk - Blue & Red!

Hello fashionistas...My first post is paying homage to Alexander Mcqueen.

This gorgeous blue sophisticated dress is  by Alexander Mcqueen, so lets talk a bit about the dress first. The one shoulder-knee length dress is perfect for either a weekday when you have to work for 8-9 hours and go out for a formal dinner or after party or for a weekend. For during the day-you can pair the dress with black blazer and accessorize it with round stud ear rings and/or a flower bouquet sash as a belt.
For evening wear- pair it up with red--- animal print high heels, red bead bracelet, ruby red drop earrings and a plain clutch. Don't forget to flaunt a red lip color with nude eyes.
Couple of thumb rules here-
  • On a one shoulder or half sleeve dress, try to go with long earrings and bracelet or solitaire studs in the ears, heavy necklace and a watch . Doing both earrings and necklace can be tacky.
  • Keep it all one metal color. If the base of your earring is silver, all metallic accessories should be silver.
  • Trick the eyes- do different takes on one dress by accessorizing it. Wear it with a blazer not showing much or put on a slender belt/sash to give it a skirt/top look or just pull it off plain!
  • While using any patterned accessories make sure you don't over do, for example in the set above we paired the animal print pumps with a small plain clutch and not a patterned one. You could have also done the opposite- patterned clutch and plain pumps.
These rules go for all most every attire and would rock your look where ever you go...  so get dressed and partayyyyy!!!

Overview

Fashionscious means fashion conscious.
The blog will help all fashionista friends become more fashionable.

This is how it works--- every post in the blog will include one or more sets. A set is a mix & match of couture pairing it up with accessories and shoes.

I will generally be picking up collections on interesting topics such as hot fashion trends, celebrity style, pop culture, and current events. For example, if I am doing a collection on a trend, I will try and give a background on where the trend came from and tips on how to wear it.

The set can also revolve around a specific item like Lace-Up Booties, Denim Shirt Trends, Sequin Dresses etc. In short, taking lace-up booties to be the focus, the set will be designed pairing up a dress with booties and all the accessories that go with it.

The best part comes now...You won't spend your time looking for them. A list of items will be published with each set including links to their websites so that all users can easily shop for their favorite looks.

When using Fashionscious, you should:

* Have fun :)
* Share your sense of style and artistic talent by being original and creative.
* Give your constructive criticism.
* Respect other people's views and beliefs.
